GUIDING PRINCIPLES

WHAT IS THIS STATEMENT ABOUT?

We are a very small initiative committed to a policy of openness in our operations. This page is for participants in our events, partners, volunteers and other interested parties, where we aim to provide information on our operations, answer frequent questions and link to related sources.

WHAT ARE THE AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF JUNG BY THE SEA?

Dreamed up well before the Covid global pandemic, Jung by the Sea was intended to focus on developing a diverse community of Jungian minded/inspired people, not limited to those linked to professional memberships or bodies, but rather open to all who have an interest or desire to experience and share in Jungian inspired activities, events, education and related festivities.

The aim is to disseminate Jungian theory, research and developments in clinical practice and related philosophies, offer high calibre experiential events, a range of tailored educational activities, professional CPD, and to foster a wider understanding of how Jungian ideas and theory may influence, direct and support our lives and communities.

HOW DO YOU OPERATE?

As a non-commercial enterprise and in line with the definition of a not-for-profit organisation, Jung by the Sea aims to do something other than to make a profit for the originator/owner of the organisation. The organisation does not have the overhead of a physical base, and events have been self-funded, so day-to-day outgoings are minimal, with no loan or investor repayments, for example. As such, while each event is designed to be economical and as accessible as possible for participants, it must also generate enough money to cover its costs. In the unlikely event that any surplus is created, this will be reinvested as seed funding for subsequent projects. If the organisation ceases, any surplus will be divided and donated to charities associated with Jung, including the Champernowne Trust and the Philemon Foundation

WHO IS INVOLVED IN RUNNING JUNG BY THE SEA?

The concept of Jung by the Sea was dreamed up by Sarah Hall and brought to life through collaborating with a number of individuals, groups and partners, many friends and professional colleagues, who all contributed their skill sets and shared in the collective vision.  Please see the ABOUT US page for more information.

IS JUNG BY THE SEA AFFILIATED WITH AN ORGANISATION?

As founder of Jung by the Sea and a Jungian Analyst in private practice (Phoenix Psychotherapy), Sarah is affiliated to a number of professional bodies and organisations including UKCP (membership no: 2011165070), HCPC (membership no: AS15403), BPC (membership no: 22899), and the IAAP. She is also a member of, and Chair of Training for The Association of Jungian Analysts.

However, none of these organisations or membership bodies are directly stake holders of JBS and they do not control or fund any of the activities.
